Project Management
FAQ
-
It is the process by which people are managed to deliver a particular goal. More specifically to technology, it is the process by which you organise people to deliver a goal or series of goals such as moving from one system to another, or one process to another, or creating new functionality in a particular product.

At Simplify Change we use whichever project management methodology fits best with our clients who typically have a PMO process and recommended methodology for a given project or piece of work.
Given the breadth of experience we have at Simplify Change, we can meet the needs of our clients be in implementing a formal Prince2 government contract, to working with agile teams using ScrumMasters, to a mix of the two. It’s highly likely we’ve seen similar methods used in the past although we’re always up for learning more from our clients.
We dove-tail project management with the BEE Methodology to ensure that regardless of how our PMs and project teams are working they will still apply elements of best practice business change management to ensure that people impacted are considered and brought along on projects.

At Simplify Change we strive to deliver projects on budget, on time, and to scope.
Using our tried and tested formula of engaging with people using the BEE Methodology, we are confident we can do so if the correct process is followed, and the right people are involved in a project.
We like to measure success in projects by assessing the return on investment made against benefits.
To ensure this is objective, we like to establish what the expected benefits are before a project begins and refresh this list as a project progresses, allowing us to stay on target and deliver value to our clients.

Business change management best practice & agile processes do not conflict at all.
Effectively change management should be thought of as another team member who has a role to play in delivering a project.
Each sprint for example requires actions by a change professional to be delivered correctly, like communication, creation of training material and discussions with stakeholders and impacted parties.
As such a PM should take this into account, as should the rest of the team, and allocate time for these activities if a change manager isn’t part of the team. If they are, even better, as you have a defined person who will help drive adoption of your project!

In the vast majority of projects people are impacted in the way they work, the systems they use or other ways. Some statistics have said that 70% of projects don’t meet their objectives and fail because a change’s impact on people is not considered.
Change Management is the way people are informed, educated and brought on board a project so they see it as an opportunity not a problem in what they do in their day to day jobs.
As such it is crucial for all projects to focus on change management, and ensure plans are made for informing people how they will be impacted, it is explained what benefits it will bring them, and they are trained as to how to take advantage and best use the change.
